🪔 Devotional Offering

Bhajan Seva in Honor of Devi Navdurga

Date: 24th September  |  Venue: Vandurga Kshetra, Jain Heights  |  Presented by: Swar Mohini Music Academy

Guru: Vidushi Mohini Joshi  |  Accompanied by: Guru Bhagini Archana Joshi

On the sacred evening of 24th September, the disciples and mentors of Swar Mohini Music Academy were blessed with the opportunity to offer Bhajan Seva in front of Devi Navdurga at the serene Vandurga Kshetra, Jain Heights. The atmosphere was soaked in bhakti and feminine divine energy, as melodies echoed through the temple grounds in devotion to the Goddess.

In our rich spiritual tradition, every girl is worshipped as a form of Devi—a living embodiment of power, purity, and grace. It is said that Mata Rani delights in shrungaar (adornment), music, and the presence of young girls, and this offering was a heartfelt tribute to her love for beauty and devotion.

Spiritual Invocations:

🕉️ "Sarva Mangal Mangalye, Shive Sarvartha Sadhike, Sharanye Tryambake Gauri, Narayani Namostute"

Followed by the powerful and energizing rendition of "Aigiri Nandini", invoking the fierce and protective energy of Goddess Durga.
Bhajan Offerings:

The bhajan “Mata Kalika”, rendered soulfully by Guru Vidushi Mohini Joshi and Guru Bhagini Archana Joshi, set the tone for the musical seva, drawing in every listener into a state of surrender. The seva continued with deeply devotional renditions:

Jay Jay Santoshi Mata Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma Var De, Var De, Veene Vadini Var De Hey Hanswahini Gyan Dayini, Amb Vimal Mati Dey
Disciples Ensemble:

Deepali: gentle tone Tejas: grounded presence Shambhavi: voice of purity Khubi & Shuvi: youthful harmony Sumati: calm precision Shubhada: emotion & depth

This collective expression of devotion was not merely a performance—it was seva, offered at the feet of the Goddess with humility and gratitude. As a true blessing, the group received a heartfelt invitation to return for another round of seva.

Riyaz for the 2024
New Year Beginning

Riyaz 2024

SMMA students were blessed to begin the 2024 New Year with the Riyaz session under the guidance of Vidushi. Mohini Joshi.

During early morning 7:00 AM on 1 January 2024, SMMA students headed for the Riyaz session. While we slowly and steadily tuned the tanpura, we could feel the vibrations of the swaras. Invariably, we got immersed in the tuned tanpura and began the Riyaz by singing the lower notes. We ensured to open up the vocal cords with ‘Aakar’, ‘Omkar’ and ‘Humkaar’. We then moved deeper in with the combination of mandra and madhya saptak. In a matter of time, we were completely immersed in the morning Raaga Bhairav. We tried gamak in every swara. As we went deep, Vidushi. Mohini Joshi wanted her students to be perfect in every note. Later, we sang the Raag Bhariav Bandish ‘Jago Mohan Pyaarey’ and concluded the Riyaz session.

We truly thank our Guru Vidushi. Mohini Joshi for the New Year mesmerizing morning and blessing us with the Riyaz session, which we would continue through out the year.

Vasant Panchami
Celebration 2024 at SMMA

The 2024 Vasant Panchami celebration at Swar Mohini Music Academy was a harmonious blend of devotion, music, and artistic expression. Let us immerse ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of this auspicious day.

  • Saraswati Puja by Mohini Joshi: As the sun painted the sky with hues of gold, the academy’s assembly hall buzzed with anticipation. Vidushi Mohini Joshi, the revered music teacher and custodian of tradition, stepped forward to perform the Saraswati Puja. With grace and reverence, she adorned the idol of Goddess Saraswati with fresh flowers, incense, and vermilion. The air hummed with sacred chants, invoking wisdom and creativity.
  • Seeking Blessings: Following the puja, students queued up, their hearts brimming with hope. Each one touched the feet of the goddess, seeking her blessings for their musical journey. The notes they played, the lyrics they sang—all were offerings to the divine muse. Guidance and Melodies: Under Vidushi Mohini Joshi’s watchful eye, the students dedicated Saraswati bhajans.

On this Vasant Panchami, let us remember that knowledge is not static; it flows like a river, nourishing minds and hearts. May the blessings of Goddess Saraswati continue to inspire these young souls, and may their music resonate through eternity.
Jai Saraswati!

Trimasik Sabha

Raag Bihag, Raag Maaro Bihag and Mahashivratri renditions/bhajans/bandishs

The Swar Mohini Music Academy (SMMA) recently held its Trimasik Sabha, a quarterly gathering that coincided with the auspicious occasion of MahaShivratri. The event was a celebration of music and spirituality, with the evening’s theme centered around the melodious Raag Bihag, Raag Maaro Bihag and Mahashivratri renditions/bhajans/bandishs.

  • The Sabha commenced with a warm welcome speech by Shubhadaji, setting a tone of reverence and anticipation for the performances to follow. The audience was treated to a series of enchanting musical renditions by the academy’s talented artists, including the young prodigy Advay, the skilled Tejas, the melodious Aneesha, and the expressive Mrunalini.
  • Highlighting the event was the performance by Vidushi Mohini Joshi, whose rendition of Raag Bihag captivated the audience with its intricate patterns in bada khayal and emotive alaap and taan depth. Rajneesh Ji, Rakesh Ji, and Shubhada Ji also graced the stage with their exceptional talent, each adding a unique flavor to the evening’s repertoire.
  • The spiritual atmosphere was further enhanced by Vidushi Mohini Joshi’s soul-stirring performance and the chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay,’ which marked the conclusion of the performances. The air was charged with spiritual vibes, as the audience immersed themselves in the divine experience.
  • The rhythmic accompaniment by Shashibhushanji on tabla and Narsimhaji’s harmonium provided a robust backbone to the evening’s music, their synchrony with the performers creating a seamless auditory experience.
  • As the Sabha drew to a close, the attendees were treated to delicious Mahaprasad and Mattha, which not only satiated their physical hunger but also symbolized the sharing of blessings and communal harmony. In gratitude, the academy extends its heartfelt thanks to all the participants, whose contributions made the Trimasik Sabha a memorable and successful event.

The SMMA looks forward to continuing its tradition of celebrating music and culture in its upcoming gatherings. 🙏🎶
